SOLARPLATE:
SOLARPLATE is a prepared light sensitive polymer surface on a steel
backing. Water and ultra violet light affect the unexposed polymer
and
any areas of the plate blocked out from the light remain
water-soluble. The remaining areas become hardened. Washing out the
blocked areas with tap water creates etching. No acid, asphaltum
grounds or petroleum solvents are used in any way for the
preparation of the plate. The etched SOLARPLATE may be used for
traditional intaglio or relief printing.
