Artist Statement

The themes of my work are derived from natural phenomena and specific to particular settings. I am drawn to large natural environments where nature remains the primary force, creating the area's identity.  Here I begin searching for specific personalities of the place and how they affect me. I seek separate elements in the environment that share similar properties, distilling these parts to their common rhythmic denominators.  Color and pattern operate as metaphors for natural rhythms, providing a point of departure for the contemplation of our relationship to nature and creation.
